Rick Soto of "The Journal for Innovation" (TJFI) Attends Three (3)
Unique Conferences During the Month of June That Focused on Online Marketing,
Information Security as well as the Business of Music
Rick Soto of The
Journal for Innovation (TJFI) continues to add value
to his intellectual capital.
The three conferences that were attended by Rick Soto include the [1]
Computer
Security Institute (CSI) - NETSEC
2002 Conference at the Hyatt
Regency Embarcadero in San Francisco, [2] AD:TECH Los Angeles 2002 Conference
at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel within Downtown Los Angeles, and the
[3] Institute
for International Research (IIR) - The Perfect Pitch:
The Business of Music at The Wyndham Bel Age Hotel on the Sunset strip
in West Hollywood.
"The quality of these conferences were way above expectation and I have
been to a lot of these business functions - to date approximately 50
conferences / events throughout California," declared Rick Soto, Principal
Analyst & Editor of The Journal for Innovation (TJFI) a division of
MultiTalent Management (MTM). "Many conferences / events tend to reveal
little, once you have been to a few in one particular business area
you have basically learned all there is to know but these conferences
explored new ideas and issues worth reporting about."
The Computer Security Institute (CSI) NETSEC 2002 Conference consists
of a host of speakers on intrusion detection, e-commerce security, forensic
investigation, remote access, among other topics. Keynote speakers consisted
of the Director of Homeland Security for California as well as a US
Secret Service Special Agent. The Director of Homeland Security for
California said that intelligence has been receiving threats that something
may happen this summer [2002], which is difficult to predict as well
as be on the defensive. The new CSI / FBI Computer Crime & Security
Survey was released and it still shows certain trends continuing such
as 90% of large corporations have had security breaches within the last
12 months. You may download this report at http://www.gocsi.com
The AD:TECH Los Angeles 2002 Conference focused on interactive online
marketing or eMarketing. A Hot topic included the method of analytical
metrics of internal databases. One of the finer highlights came when
Senior Vice President of Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment presented
a case study on using their integrated network to promote Spiderman
on the Internet. Spiderman, the monster hit movie had over 1 million
tickets sold online in advance through a key online partner. This is
another example that the Internet is not dead but a wise use of mass
distribution (e.g., DELL computer sells $40 million daily online while
eBay has 50 million buyers / sellers).
The Perfect Pitch: The Business of Music had notable "Behind the Scenes"
speakers' who have been the creators / promoters of a variety of talent
(e.g., Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Deion Sanders, Elton John, Korn,
Linkin Park, Mandy Moore, Michael Bolton, Michael Jackson, Motley Crue,
N'Sync, Sylestor Stallone, The Cranberries, The Osbornes, U2, Victoria
Silvstedt, et al). Besides notable speakers, one of the finer highlights
consisted of a case study on the creation of an unknown artist turned
pop star. Who was the artist? Britney Spears. The creators showed how
they created alliances to eventually attract attention. This is a similar
model that you will eventually hear about regarding the Power Puff Girls,
You.S.A jeans as well as the girl band No Secrets within the coming
weeks according to the panelists.
